About Petopia

PETOPIA dog daycare was set up to provide dog owners with an alternative to leaving their dogs 'home alone' while they work or go on vacation - a place where all the staff are fully trained and equipped with all the knowledge and skills needed to provide a safe, caring and fun environment for dogs.

Responsible dog owners want the best for their dogs - good care in a safe environment that can provide them with companionship and exercise. Dogs need stimulation to minimize issues such as separation anxiety and boredom which can result in constant barking and destruction. Most people cannot take their dog to work or to other places where dogs are not allowed, but want to have peace of mind in knowing that their dogs are well taken care of until they can take care of them again.

PETOPIA's dog boarding kennels owners are Yun Jong Lee and his wife Joohee Lee.

Veterinarian Yun Jong Lee
Yun Jong Lee qualified as a veterinarian in Korea and worked as a vet for a Korean zoo. After coming to New Zealand he studied acupuncture and after qualifying he began running his own practice Han Oriental Clinic in Johnsonville, Wellington.

Veterinarian Johee Lee
Joohee Lee is also a qualified veterinarian and worked as a vet in a small animal hospital in Korea. Since coming to New Zealand she also studied acupuncture, and has been providing veterinary services for the SPCA on a volunteer basis.

Joohee has always loved animals and wanted a career where she could make a difference to their lives and be able to educate pet owners about proper care and training, reduce the problem of pet overpopulation, ease animal suffering and reduce disease, and veterinary medicine offered her the opportunity to do this.

The welfare of animals is so important to her that she wanted to create an environment that can provide the best care for pets, especially dogs that are forced to adapt to living in a man-made urban environment where owning a dog can be challenging from lack of space and the long working hours that many city dwellers face.

An opportunity finally came up for her to realize her dream of providing a service for the care, health and wellbeing of animals, including animal acupuncture, where her experience as a vet and her skill in acupuncture can complement her heart’s desire.

At PETOPIA she devotes her experience to the care and welfare of the animals.

Besides being animal lovers themselves, the Team at PETOPIA are skilled in animal health and welfare and are dedicated to taking good care of your dog in a safe and happy environment.
